Co-chaired by the Québec Government and the Nordic Council of Ministers, the International Symposium on Northern Development, organized in collaboration with Université Laval, was held from February 25 to 27 2015 in Québec, at the Québec City Convention Centre.
The Symposium brought together representatives of the Nordic countries, of academia, of inhabitants from the North, including aboriginal Nations, as well as representatives from the world of business and industry, for exchanges on knowledge, experiences and visions associated on sustainable development of the North.
The symposium included speeches, workshops and dynamic discussions.

On February 24, 2015, the day before the International Symposium on Northern Development, the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies held its Journée de la recherche at Université Laval. Assembled under the theme “La recherche nordique : un regard québécois, une portée internationale,” Québec researchers accompanied by their international collaborators presented the findings and spinoff from their research in such varied fields as geothermy, mine reclamation, biodiversity and agriculture in the northern context.
